Our state-of-the-art Photofacial treatments utilize Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Technology to improve and rejuvenate the skin and body. SkinSmart Dermatology is proud to offer the Palomar Starlux® IPL system for our Photofacial treatment. Using the newest generation of technology, this procedure emits controlled intense pulses of light to the upper layers of the skin while at the same time delivering beneficial thermal energy to the deeper layers. Using the Intense Pulsed Light system, we can dramatically improve the look of sun-damaged skin, remove brown age spots (sun-induced freckles), pigmented lesions, and even out skin tone. These treatments are also appropriate for patients with the persistent redness and flushing of rosacea and other skin conditions. The end result of Photofacial treatments is smoother, healthier and younger-appearing skin. Additionally, Photofacial Treatments can be used in conjunction with chemical peels or microdermabrasion to enhance your results. The gentle, non-ablative treatments use broad-spectrum light to treat the face, chest, neck and hands—virtually anywhere that sun damage shows. The process is ideal for patients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtime and has a low risk of side effects.
How does the treatment work? A broad spectrum of light is transmitted through a small, smooth, transparent hand piece and is gently placed over the skin. Cut-off filters in the hand piece change the wavelength range allowing it to be optimized for different applications and skin types. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging hem. The body's natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance. What improvement will I see?
How many treatments will I need? What are the requirements to having this procedure? What are the advantages of a Photofacial?
